An early morning crash on Interstate 290 east at Damen Avenue in Chicago’s Tri-Taylor neighborhood left all lanes closed and traffic was being diverted off the inbound Eisenhower Expressway to Western Avenue, officials said.
The crash happened on the Ike around 2:10 a.m., according to preliminary information from an Illinois State Police dispatcher.
Details about how many vehicles were involved were not immediately available Wednesday morning. It wasn’t immediately clear whether there were injuries from the crash.
All inbound lanes remained closed as of 7 a.m. Morning commuters headed east into the city were forced to exit at Western Avenue, officials said. Troopers hoped to have lanes open around 8 a.m.
A spokesman for Illinois State Police said he expected to have more information after speaking with investigators and crash reconstructionists who were on the scene early Wednesday.
